Errands Day

March 9th, 2006 at 01:11 am

Today was an errands day, therefore a spend day! Parent teacher conference - great! Library - owed a dime :-( (Don't tell Money Talks! Love his rants!!)Went to pt job to make up for being home yesterday. He let me bring a lot of work home, so I can get hours in after the kids go to bed! (yeah!) Got gas -$45!, got paycheck from other pt job, returned rug + 26.80, grocery store (without list, with coupons) -100.88. Lunch -5.06. Now I have to dole out the paycheck money. Hopefully more to savings. Tomorrow is DD2 and DD3's last day of school for 3 weeks! (They are on cycle school, they call it cycle break, the parents call it psycho break!) No more peace and quiet. Grandma will watch them while I go to PT job #1 and they can go with me to PT job #2! Goodbye sanity!

Not sure how old your girls are - but you might want to try to include them in your new savings mode. Tell them it is a game and for the next three weeks their job when out with you is to be your "Don't spend that - save it instead" escorts. Whoever gets you to cook meals at home more and eat out less gets a prize (stickers or something you have around that house that can be motivating). Same for talking you out of purchasing items at the store. Maybe they can even be your Ebay cheerleaders during this school break (you know - motivate you to list the items).

Just a thought - good luck with the vacation break Smile

I am father of four daughters. Two are married and two are college age.
Whew, when I look back at where we've been I wonder how we made it.

But I am blessed with wonderful daughters who think their Dad is "a keeper".

You seem to have the perfect attitude and I am sure that success will follow.

Thank you Spendless! It is good to see there is light at the end of the tunnel. I try to make sure I appreciate my girls everyday, even when they have driven me to the brink of insanity! You sound very proud and it seems you have done a great job!
