Break my arm patting myself on the back!

August 23rd, 2006 at 02:27 am

Woo Hoo! A NO SPEND DAY!! Did'nt go anywhere and it feels so good!
Fridge is still gimping along. No repair till THURSDAY! Geeze! Putting bottles and milk jugs of frozen water in the fridge to keep it cooler.
Retaped the carpet cleaner and cleaned the carpets today! Much better!
Other than that, still feeling depressed and overwhelmed by our debt and the huge interest rates we are paying. Do you think I should try to get some of these 0% deals they keep sending in the mail? I hate to open new cards!! I am worried about the FICO. But if I don't do something we will drown in the high interest! Thoughts??.........

If you get a lower interest credit card why worry about what your fico score does after you get the cards? Do it if you can and save some money. Just make sure to cancel the cards you pay off so those don't get used again.

I see you are doing the $20 challenge. Have you modified this challange to put the money straight on your debt? That will help to move the balances down if you aren't doing it already. Everything helps!

Now you sound like me - why is it there are some days that just feel overwhelming and others you feel so in control and on track.
I have also been considering moving debt around for lower interest rates etc. but have noticed there is a clause in the Terms & Conditions that goes something like this:
"You must fulfil all requirements in order to benefit from lower interest rates. We reserve the right to adjust your interest rate if these requirements are not met"
Huh? This makes me nervous - if I hiccup at the wrong time they have freedom to do what they want - no thanks.
Decided just to stay where I am, no surprises and keep on keeping on with the larger goal in mind i.e. debt freedom.
Kathy, I keep reminding myself that I didn't get into debt over night so it is not going to go away overnight.
Every tiny bit of progress is progress - be strong and well done on your No Spend Day!
Keep going and thanks for the suggestions for DD's clothes

Take a look at MarianneJ's journal - that is what I was scared off. She is doing so well and now there is a bump in the road.

I switched around to the zero interest cards several times and saved money. It did not hurt my fico score, but don't cancel the old cards, that will hurt the score. Just make sure every payment is on time so they don't raise the rates!
