Fighting the birdhouses

April 12th, 2007 at 05:41 am

Okay, not actual birdhouses! I went to tackle the girls bathroom and make it beautiful. Unfortunatley it was painted in builders grade paint (ie, like dust!) and they wallpapered right onto it without putting any primer on first. Needless to say when I went to pull down the lovely birdhouse border, chunks of drywall came off too! *sigh* So I scraped and patched and THEN painted. Lots of extra time spent, but not necessarily money, so that is good. On the brighter side, the blue is very cute and "oceany" and the rainbow fish will be really cute in there.
Next..... the bedroom.

Good luck with your projects. Your progress is inspiring me - we have lived in our house almost 8 years and still need to paint some bathrooms from the ugly builder paint! Maybe I will find sometime this weekend to begin to prep. I actually like to paint, it is just the prep that I hate!

I hate the prep too! I'm planning on painting a fair bit when I'm off work for the summer...can't wait to get started. You made me think, though, that maybe I should prep in the evenings in June and then it'll be easy to just paint away.

Oh gosh, my bathroom did the same. They didn't put on the border right. I have a mess to fix. It sounds like your bathroom for the girls is very cute!
