A raise

May 1st, 2008 at 06:55 am

After 4 long years of waiting, I finally received a pay raise! I'm glad for the money, but it really feels like I have sold my soul to the devil. These people don't do it for you, they do it so you can be obligated to them. We lost another receptionist, she quit, so they are hiring for the other location which means the extra hours I would have worked there are gone. I don't really mind, as I would have used lots of gas to get there! I am learning more back office work and figure I will use the training for more job experience. Lots of bookkeeping stuff. Hope I don't screw it up! :-)

Learning new skills can only help you in the long run, even if your current job isn't all you'd hope for. Congrats on your raise!

I just started reading your blog and wanted to tell you that I cash out my AMEX Costco rebates. I thought I had to use it at Costco for products but found out that they will give you cash back if you buy something that is less than the rebate. I bought something small and got over $300 in change. I also got a rebate recently for being an executive member. I just took it to customer service and got it all back in cash. Congratuations on the raise.

A raise is a raise is more money. Focus on you! That is the best thing you can do, you have more money. You earned it, you are well thought of!
