Bad at the $20 challenge

April 26th, 2006 at 08:01 pm

Okay, my poor $20 challenge fund is stuck at $90. Now, I'm glad I got that high, and I have'nt spent any of it, but still I have'nt added to it! I think when my rebates come in, I will put them in there, but help! I am a literal saver, I have to have the actual cash to put in it. Should I start charging my kids when I clean their rooms? Any suggestions?

Are you adding change? Rounding up debit card/credit card purchases? The latter isn't actual cash though. Maybe go to an all-cash basis for a month and add all change that way?

Divajen noted "Rounding up debit card/credit card purchases" and that is what I have actually done as far as the $20.00 challenge goes I haven't sold anything but I do like the idea of rounding up. give it a try

    Great question!!!

I have struggled some with ideas too...so I am keeping an eye on the responses!

I did get $20 from 2 referrals to ING...and I have traded in some pop cans..

But mine has mainly been a 'pay myself' for the stair challenge.

I could try rounding up with all cash. In theory this should work great! If I could just keep those little "mystery mitts" out of my purse! Where do they take all the money to?

i add more than a dollar to my checkbook, after each purchase, plus rounding up the amount.. i also, add the total saved by using coupons and my advantage card to my stash... i always keep a hundred bucks untouched in my checking account, just in case i run into a great deal.. i still have it there from xmas.. we had a gc xmas mostly.. anyway, saving pennies is a small victory, but, a win-win for my grandkids..

Gotta hide the money someplace where the mystery mitts dare not poke their fingers in. I used to have a tampon box for *exactly* that purpose.
