Extended warranty pays off

December 20th, 2006 at 05:40 am

When we purchased our lemon of a washer and dryer from Maytag, I knew it was inevitable that we would have to buy the extended warranty. In the first year it was worked on 7 times including rebuilding it from the "milkstool" up. Of course, nothing we could do would get them to replace it! I had to call them out again because it had leaked onto the floor (apparently it was just off balanced and that is what caused it??) and they replaced the middle part that you can put your fabric softener in. Total came to $156.00 that we don't have to pay! Yeah! So now I have to catch up on 5 days of laundry!

Had a washer that I had debated about so purchased the extended warranty - something I rarely do. Quit after two days of use and it was downhill from there. Had the washer for 6 years and had no less than 5 calls a year - they wouldn't replace either. Finally decided that enough was enough and let the warranty go and had another problem with the washer.
Scrappers had a good day and so did we after purchasing a new washer. 2 years and not a problem to be found!
