Back from vacation - waste of money!!

July 1st, 2007 at 08:33 pm

I guess the vacation Gods heard the Meyers' were going on vacation, cause just like our cruise, the trip to the lake was rainy and cold EVERY day! The first day we checked out the condos. Nothing to set the house on fire for, but at least we have an idea of the wheres and how muchs. So Friday we decide to do the indoor stuff and go to the outlet mall and the movies, but by Saturday we were getting pretty disgusted. Hung out at the condo, rented a movie, got up this morning and headed out of town!! We did visit with a friend of DH's when we were down there and we joked that it was US that brought the rain. She called us on our way home and asked if we had left town, because the sun came out!! NO kidding!

That's the trouble with vacations; it's a crapshoot whether you'll enjoy it or not. Sometimes awesome, sometimes awful!

    Oh, big bummer.

I hate when that happens. I just go into it with the mindset that i'm gonna enjoy it no matter what cus I'm NOT WORKING.

Did you check out the caves down south? I love fantastic caverns in Springfield. You can spend the majority of a day in there, and it doesnt matter if it rains. Also, its just down the road from the Bass Pro Shop (huge!!) which has on site 2 muesuems-one is free, the other charges. Also, there is a drive thru zoo-you never get out of your car and you see plenty and stay dry. Also the Laura Ingall Wilder house and it has an inside tour and meusem....

So sorry...not a fun way to spend vacation. Now that you got 'that' out of the way, may the rest of your summer be superb in every way (I'm waving my pretend magic wand your way!!) Best wishes!

I used to live in Springfield and did all those things! They were fun. We have a smaller Bass Pro shop here in St. Louis too!
I figure we got to spend some quality family time (even though the girls got on each othes nerves!) and I did'nt have to cook or clean too much. I enjoyed just hanging out. I felt bad cause the girls and DH were disappointed about not being able to do more ON the lake.
