Shop-a-ranza

Did great grocery shopping yesterday! I only spent $50 for $270 worth of groceries! Wow! Beat that one! :-)
I returned a bunch of things that have been unused or not the right size, etc. That came to around $57 cash back in my pocket, then $50 out of pocket, then a rebate of $167 in check form for Costco.
Went to Aldi's first. It is amazing how much cheaper thier items are! But there is a limited selection of items. I have my favorites! $50 there.
Then to Shop n Save for the more named brand stuff, with coupons. They had a $10 off a $50 purchase. I almost could'nt make the $50! I had to throw on some gum and candy! $40 there.
Then I stocked up at Costco on meat and chicken and other goodies for the freezer! $170 there.
So I treated myself to lunch and I still have $3 in my purse!
A little success feels sooooo good!

Why not have a state of the state meeting every Sunday or something with DH. Show him what you have spent on what, etc. It might help both of you stay focused on your goals.

I understand you wanting to stay home with your three girls, but I don't think sometimes we understand what a burden mentally it is to be the single wage earner in a family. It can be very stressful, so your job (if you don't mind my saying so) is to run the home as well as you can and make DH's life as stress free as possible. Maybe that would make him more willing for you to stay home if it somehow makes his life easier.

Of course I don't know you and haven't been visiting here that long, but having just raised three girls, I know I tended to put my DH at the bottom of a long list, so maybe moving yours on the list would help.

    Good luck!

Oh I forgot to say, last weekend we had that Costco rebate check too, but only for about $100.00. It sure helped though!

And a good point to this story is that you wouldn't have had the TIME to pull it off if you were working FT...be sure to add that to the equation when computing work expenses vs. staying home.

You're on my mind today, as we prepare to leave for the weekend...your 'sad" post made me think about the days when I did work outside the home...It was so tough, and I am grateful everyday that I am home....I am rooting for you!

(If he still says no, send him to this site and we will do a friendly, but stern cyber-mugging!!) Wink lol

it really feels great to save money on food items... i really use coupons for several items continuously... dollar general has alot of items cheaper, like aldi's and savealot.. since i have been using my europro steamer, i really don't use any cleaners.. except for toilets, i use 2000 flushes,9once a month) and i insert denture tablets, one in the bowl and one in the tank, twice a week. i learned this from my dentist's dental assistant, she is the cleaning lady of the office too. try it. it works great.
