Round and round with DH

June 14th, 2007 at 05:59 am

(I apologize for the ramble!)

I love this man, but sometimes he just makes me dizzy! Go to work, he says, make more money, quit your job, etc, etc. I think the stress from his job is affecting his brain!! I have not asked him for any extra money than he has been bringing home for the last 6 years and he thinks I should be asking for LESS! Has'nt the cost of living, gas, food, electric shot up??? Another job for more money and more hours came up, but he did'nt want me to take it because of the hours?? Anyway, I shake my head.

BTW, our electric rates are increasing by 2.1%. Our last bill was $84, this bill was $222. Grrrr.

Been exercising, sticking to the low carb and I GAINED weight. Maybe its muscle -right? Hah! Ate cookies and said to heck with it!

Took $60 out of my check and treated the girls, and some friends to a matinee and popcorn today. Saw Oceans 13. Pretty good, especially if you have seen the first two. Nice hot day to spend a cool time in a dark theater with George Clooney!Wink

Oh well, tomorrow is another day. I did tell DH to find me that perfect job with the perfect hours and I will gladly send in my resume. Will see what he comes up with!

Hey, Boo, why don't you go to the library and check out the Carbohydrate Addict's Lifespan Program by Drs. Richard and Rachel Heller. It is a controlled carb eating plan instead of low-carb, but it confines your high carbs to one balanced meal a day within one hour and your other meals and snacks are protein and low carb veggies. You might have better luck with it as it does allow for a bit of high carb. It goes into more detail than I can explain here, but it might be a better fit for you than what you are doing now. My daughter has been on their children's program with great success since she was five, because of her insulin issues (pre-diabetic) and lack of an off switch for the hunger response. I have a lot of respect for their programs.

I have a friend who's had great success with the Heller diet that Lucky Robin mentions above. It was too restrictive for me, but it really worked for her.

You CAN gain weight on a low-carb diet. Calories still count, as much as diet authors try to hoodwink you. It's calories in, calories out. Too much in, weight gain. More out than in, weight loss. The people who lose weight on Atkins are taking in fewer calories than they are burning. Believe me, I am a converted calorie counter who tried Atkins for years! Finally having success and I wish I'd done this years ago.

Hang in there - I always think of my great-grandmother, who used to tell me "everything in moderation" and I would think "yeah right"!
But when I look back to when I was my slimmest, it was when I wasn't doing anything radical either way - just eating what I felt like in smaller to average portions. Oh and I played lots of tennis but other than that nothing special. I think our bodies adjust to whatever we are eating and by having a varied diet, it keeps getting a surprise.
Everytime I think about a diet, I just can't be bothered and would rather cut down on my portion sizes than go out and plan, buy and cook special foods.
Just keep trying to find something that works for you.

Yeah, my electric bill just killed me. It nearly tripled since last month!

George Clooney doesn't do it for me, but I'll take your word for it. Wink

My electric bill was pretty outrageous last month... I'm doing what I can to keep it down now. $80 for a 1-bedroom seems kind of silly. Turn off the AC, BF! hehehe. Those guys dont seem to get it sometimes, you're right Smile Good luck finding a job that works!
