Cost of food going UP!! :-(

June 22nd, 2007 at 07:49 pm

I was watching the news yesterday (ugh) and they had a story about the fact that the cost of food will be up another 7% by the end of summer!! Yikes! I told my husband we are just going to have to starve! Smile Really though, they said the costs are rising due to corn being used to make ethanol instead of food. I guess I'm glad for the farmers! Finally they can grown something besides soybeans and make a profit!

On the carb front, I've been watching what I eat, but not necessarily cutting way down on anything.

Listed 10 things on ebay last night. Man that is time consuming!! Going to a garage sale this afternoon that is supposed to be a big hit, will see. Looking for more stuff to list on ebay. Going to try to make some money this way. You can get a debit card from Paypal and use it at any store. I was thinking of using this for FOOD! One less expense from our salaries that we can use for chompin up the debt!!

...tell me about it!...just a month ago, I bought a 400gm bag of powdered milk for $2.34...last weekend it cost me $2.95!! OUCH!...I'm afraid next time I go to the supermarket (next weekend) I'll be paying $3.05!

Food is also going up because it takes gas to get it to you. But yeah, there's nothing for under $1/lb here. Frown

Ive noticed 'new menues' at some of the restaurants here...which always means new prices...Clearly, we take it in the shorts all the way around with these higher gas prices. ugh.

Good for you on the ebay thing. Ireally hope this a successful work-from-home alternative with a long term advantage for your family!

its the same in australia, only because of the drought costs are going up even more. i work in a bakery and a year ago our loaves of bread were $2.60, then they wen't up to $2.70 and now are up to $2.90, with an expected increase up to $3.45 by the end of the year! we had a 12% increase in flour because of the drought and things like eggs have gone from $28 per 15 dozen to $36 because of petrol prices rising!!! it's crazy! unfortunately our wages haven't increased though Frown
