Go Kathy Go!!! I am eager to see just where the "hey mom, its hot in here" point is!!

    I'll bet you'll hit it at 82....hmm!

Wow. I set it at 80 & dh sets it at 78 (Feels divine). I was thinking of compromising at 79. I swear we kept it 80 last year and he doesn't remember. I cringe every time I walk in and it feels so nice - just see my pennies floating away.

It depends on the day though. Sometimes even 76 feels hotter than hades. LOL.

    Go for it!

78 is what we keep it at here. Any colder and I'm almost needing a jacket. Any hotter and my DH starts with asking "are you hot, or is it just me?" Smile Bill this last mo. was $270.00 and it's just gonna get worse. One mo. last year a bill was $450.00! Need to get that attic insulation done quick!

My thermostat is currently set to 76 as well. It's where I am personally comfortable. If the thermostat is too high, the AC doesn't kick on enough, and if it doesn't come on enough, it gets humid as well, and I start to itch, and I can't sleep. Something like that.

Two of my kids are always cold anyway. I myself am always hot! I think it is a balance of outer temp and indoor temp. It has been in the 90's and the AC kicks on alot. When it gets in the mid 80's, it just does'nt kick on as often. And controversially speaking, we DO keep the internal fan on ON all the time to keep the air flowing in the house even when the AC is not on. I really think this helps!

I think it depends more on the humidity than the outside temperature. If it is low humidity here, we'll keep the AC on 76 and feel just fine. If, however, the humidity is high, we'll be sweating at 76 and need to run the air to suck out the moisture.

Since our humidity is always high, it's not an issue! Smile

Maybe I am weird but I find that I can get away with pushing it up more (as in less air on) when is is hotter outside. The 78 that feels comfortable when it is 90 out, feels downright cold to walk into when it is 97 out so I get away with pushing 79 or 80 when it is really hot cause it still feels cool in the house in contrast to the outside. I cannot stand feeling like I am in a refridge, I just want to be comfortable. Plus, we have ceiling fans in all the bedrooms and in the family room. I think these really help however it IS a pet peeve of mine for the kids to leave them running all the time when they are not in the room. They just move the air, not cool it so if there is no-one to feel the air moving, why bother?

We usually keep ours at 76 during the day, but lower it to 74 at night. I can't stand trying to sleep when I'm warm and sweating.

I went upstairs earlier and it was really hot up there! I have been sweating at night! We wake up with no covers on!! I will definately turn it up while we are gone on our trip!
