Beating my head againist the wall

July 10th, 2007 at 01:14 am

Soooo... yesterday I had my plan in place...right?? DH comes home and tells me he put $1000 in the savings account from the checking account. Ugh! Too bad we only had $800. He had received a bonus and that will go to cover some of our house payment, but he did'nt think about those purchases he made this weekend. Gee, we need to cover that??? Again, ugh! Good thing we have the overdraft. So now when he pulls out the house payment, I am going to remind him to pull out that extra $200 to pay it back. He will have a fit. It is amazing the denial one likes to live in.....

I absolutely loved the cartoon! I'm going to give it to Hubby for his office. He knows exactly what you are feeling right now! I often think there is a sense of humor at work that pairs a frugal, money-aware person with a person out-to-sea. It has manifested itself several times in my family--notably my parents and my DS and DIL.

Your DH sounds like he is related to my DH. Mine conveniently "forgets" anything he puts on the credit card so even if he is trying to only spend a certain amount per month, he will spend the same amount over and over cause he forgot that he already bought something last week. I have taken to calling the credit card company info line weekly just to be able to "remind" him of what he spent. He usually gives me a blank look and says something like, Oh Yeah, I forgot about that. I want to know if his memory is really that bad, how come he can remember golf games from 10 years ago and how he scored on each hole? Definitely a case of selective memory loss.
