That's my story.....ugly ain't it????

February 14th, 2008 at 04:53 am

Yes, I have finally gotten my UGLY DEBT TOTAL in order and can face posting them on here. And it is ugly my friends. $45,500 in CC debt. It about chokes me. Soooo, since the beginning of January, the rule has been no new debt. That has been successful although not 100%. My goal is to get the baby EF up to $1000, which I am trying to do with the tax return money. We had to amend our taxes, so who knows when this money will come in. I have decided to attack, ie.. snowflake to DEATH, the BOA first. It has a 0% until May. I am attacking this one as it has the lowest total.

We'll see how it goes. Feels good to finally be getting a handle on it. I know some of you will say, "Holy cow, I feel good, she's got it way worse!" and maybe a few of you will say "Gee, that's not so bad...." Anyway, hopefully we can finally get moving of diminishing this. Don't fool yourself that "Everyone has debt" because that is NOT the way it should be! I can't wait for someday when we are DEBT FREE! I could be a looooonnnnggg time! Stay tuned......

You can do it! Just remember, baby steps. Smile

A saying I've heard and thought was very wise -- "I can't show you how to save $100, but I can help you find 100 ways to save $1."

i am sure you have probably already been asked this/thought of this yourself, but you said you are attacking one first that has the lowest total, does it have the highest interest rate as well? because i have always thought it's best to get rid of the ones with the highest rate first.

I can feel your pain, my situation is way out of control and I've lost a large share of my income due to the failing housing market. BOA settled my debt with them for less and although it was the beginning of cleaning up my mess, it still left me ashamed to have gotten myself in this position in the first place.

Good luck with your debt reduction, catching it early is the key to your success and when you have completed that last payment, you will be proud that you took care of it the right way.

Thanks everyone for your support!! You really don't know how much it means! I really need to try to dissolve this debt and a little Dave Ramsey "Gazelle Intensity" should help. I am going to dig up more to ebay, I still have my part time job and two other mini jobs that bring in a little bit. We just have to be tight!

You've come a long way baby!! Keep going! You are very brave and it does take some time sometimes to face the whole reality. But as they say you can't solve a problem till you recognize it so GOOD GOOD GOOD on you for putting yourself out here for all the world to see! We are afraid that people will possibly judge us. It's hard to be vulnerable at your own hand, heh?

Be proud of yourself. Facing your fears is the best way I know to conquer them!

    GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO YOU!!

This is a funny yet humorous way of dealing with debt. I admire your total utter honesty! It is best way to get yourself where you need to be, you should be commended for being so courageous. We are farmers, so our total debt is more, but it is secured so we are like slaving for the bank.
