Not sick enough

I went today to see if I qualified for a Fibromyalgia study. I was very disappointed to find I am not in enough pain to qualify! Frown Ugh! What hurts even more, was that I found out they would have paid $450. I am aggrevated because I have no validation for the fibromyalgia, because I have never been diagnosed formally with it, so I was hoping someone would finally have said, "Yes, we believe what you are feeling is real." Ugh.

    I think that DD's boyfriend's mom has this and she has finally found a treatment that works. DD was wanting to send the info to my SIL who also has it. I will try to find out more and let you know what it is. The mom is a nurse and she's tried just about everything.

    Thanks Jan! I have a friend that started using the Lyrica and she really likes it, but she has been "offically" diagnosed, and I never have.

    DH has fibromyalgia. He was diagnosed in the early 90s. He tried Lyrica, but felt the side effects were not worth the benefit, to him. He pretty much just puts up with it. I gave him B-12 shots for quite a few years, but we gradually stopped those also.

    He finds his specific pain travels: it might be in his shoulder for a few weeks or months and then move to his feet.

    He's tired of being sent to different doctors. The last one pretty much told him he was a hypochondriac.

    Kathy, I am so sorry that you are in such a frustrating situation--- I too live in limbo-land between symptoms and an actual diagnosis- and I have also enjoyed the experience of a doctor looking at you like a hypochondriac. I hope you find answers so that you can be properly treated!! Hugs friend!
