The Yeah and the Booooo!

March 8th, 2011 at 05:20 am

Sounds more fun than the good news and the bad news!

Good news! DH got a job! Although he is going to keep working at his commission job (although he has still yet make a commission!) he will start working at Home Depot part time. Does not pay much, but it does offer benefits. He did not get the store close to home, but hopefully after a while he can transfer. Gas is too high.
I must admit, he is NOT happy, but I am THRILLED!!

Bad news. Ugh. DD1 did not get the full ride scholarship she interviewed for. They brought in 30 kids and were giving away 5 scholarships. She was number 6. She is very upset and I don't blame her. She is an alternate, so that if anyone chooses not to accept, she will get it, but the lady said it sounded like all would be accepting. Cross your fingers one of them gets a better scholarship to a school they want to go to school to more. An alternate gives you a sense of hope that I don't want to count on.
So, we are busily filling out every scholarship application we can qualify for!!

Had chili in the crock pot for dinner. Not sure what to have tomorrow night.

I agree. Yipee to the job. Extra cash coming in is a good thing!

My sister in law was an alternate for acceptance to dental school for two years. The second year she got in! She is a hygenist now. My never know it might work out.

(((hugs))) College is SO stressful - I agree with Ray, something will turn up for your daughter. Yay for the job too!!

Ditto. The great thing about 18-year-olds is that they have no idea what they want! So what looks like a "done deal" today may not be tomorrow. Good luck!

Oh, my fingers are crossed for your daughter to get her scholarship.

We are going through the same thing with my daughter. She just turned 19 and has one more year to have an Associates in Liberal Arts, with a possible full-ride coming, because she holds a 4.0. She told me the other day, that she is so afraid of making the wrong career choice; and doesn't know what she wants to do. Ugg.

I'm glad he got a job. MY DIL works at Home Depot and she's very happy there. She started out part-time, too.

Congratulations on the job! Benefits for a part-time job is GREAT! And who knows, maybe once he gets used to a reliable paycheck again it will convince him that he likes that feeling : )

    Hooray for the job!!

Hope one of the five decline ...
